All Points Transit provides reliable and accessible public transportation services in Montrose, Colorado, helping residents connect to essential destinations. They received $5,000 to support the installation of new shelters and benches at bus stops, enhancing comfort for riders.
Black Canyon Boys & Girls Club received $2,000 to create a new calming sensory space to reduce children’s disruptions. The club offers a safe and supportive environment where local youth can engage in enriching activities and build positive relationships.
$4,000 was awarded to Community Options to help them meet a match contribution for a new van. Community Options, Inc. provides and coordinates services and supports to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Faultless, Inc. is dedicated to providing education, resources, and support to prevent sexual violence and empower communities. They received $1,000 for a new project-awareness vehicle wrap to spread information about sexual assault in schools.
Great Escape Mustang Collaborative was awarded $1,000 to support the care of GEMS mustangs, maintain their round pen, and enhance their after-school program. The organization is committed to rescuing, training, and providing sanctuary for mustangs while offering educational programs that connect youth with these iconic horses.
Haven House offers shelter, supportive services and enrichment programs for homeless families in Montrose and Olathe. $5000 was awarded to fund their ongoing efforts for their residents.
The Hispanic Affairs Project is dedicated to supporting and empowering the immigrant community through advocacy, leadership development, and resource access. They received $2,500 to support their women’s empowerment program, offering activities that create a safe and welcoming space for Spanish-speaking women.
Kids Aid discreetly fills at risk children’s back packs with food for weekends, as many of these children only receive nutritious meals while they are in school. $5,000 was provided for 2024 to help run this much needed program.
La Familia Music Academy offers classes and a recording studio to budding young musicians. MCF awarded LFMG $5,000 for equipment acquisition, program expansion and marketing.
“Magic Circle Players has contributed to improving the quality of life in Montrose and the surrounding areas by providing educational and cultural opportunities to the residents of Western Colorado through live theatre.” They were awarded $2,000 for a youth theatre production.
Mind the Gap Mental Health Gap Services works to ensure everyone has access to essential mental health care, especially those facing financial barriers. They received $1,000 to assist Montrose clients who fall into the financial gap, helping them receive the mental health services they need.
An extension of the Montrose County School District, The Montrose Adult Education Center offers classes and tutoring in basic literacy, basic numeracy, GED test preparation, and English as Second Language (ESL) classes. $2,500 was granted for laptops for digital literacy program-skill assessments, online instruction and resources.
The Montrose Animal Protection Agency is committed to promoting animal welfare and reducing pet overpopulation through community initiatives. They received $1,000 to provide spay and neuter vouchers, making these essential services more accessible to pet owners.
Montrose Area Bicycle Alliance received $1,000 to cover expenses for their Bike Match program and the “Bucks for Biking” program, promoting cycling in the community. The organization is dedicated to making Montrose a safer and more accessible place for cyclists of all ages.
Montrose Center for the Arts exists to enrich life through education, appreciation, and experience of the arts for Montrose and the Western Slope Communities. Art classes are offered for all ages and skill levels. The works of regionally acclaimed artists are shown in their gallery each month. $500 was granted for relocation costs, awards, and promotional activities.
Montrose Children’s Museum received $500 to support operating costs, allowing them to extend their hours. The museum offers interactive exhibits and educational experiences, inspiring curiosity and learning for children of all ages.
Montrose Medical Mission, offered through Montrose Regional Health, works to reduce and sometimes cover medical and prescription bills for uninsured or those unqualified for public assistance. $4,000 was given to pay discounted medical bills for indigent clients.
Ouray Mountain Rescue, a volunteer organization dedicated to providing life-saving search and rescue services in the rugged mountain terrain of Ouray County, received $500 to replace essential equipment, ropes, and rescue gear.
Paradox Community Center received $500 to support operating expenses and purchase program supplies. The center serves as a vital gathering space, offering resources, activities, and support for the local community.
Partner’s Youth Mentoring fosters positive relationships and offers guidance to support the growth and development of local youth. They received $5,000 to provide compensation for mentors working in schools.
River Valley Health offers discounted medical services on a sliding fee scale for qualifying patients. They have clinic locations in Olathe, Montrose and Delta CO.
$3,000 supports screenings and support for low income clients.
Shepherd’s Hand serves hot meals and provides food boxes for the homeless. They also provide showers, lockers and laundry facilities, as well as counseling. $4,000 was awarded to the Shepherd’s Hand Montrose support of new staff case manager & outreach manager.
Uncompahgre Nordic Association is a nonprofit formed by Montrose Locals volunteering their time to maintain the Divide Road Nordic Trails in cooperation with the US Forest Service Ouray Ranger District for non-motorized over snow recreation. Located at the intersection of Davewood and Divide Rds on the Uncompahgre Plateau these trails are roughly 23 miles SW of Montrose, CO. An important part of our local outdoor recreation, $1,000 was granted to help groom these trails and add new signs.
Valley Food Partnership received $2,000 to support their program “Cultivating Farmers & Ranchers that Thrive.” The organization is dedicated to strengthening the local food system by empowering farmers and ranchers through education, resources, and community connections.
Since 1999 the Valley Youth Orchestra provided a youth orchestra for Colorado’s Western Slope communities. Their mission is to “inspire young string musicians in a nurturing environment with a focus on peer mentoring and musical excellence.” $500 was granted to VYO for “Strings in Schools” which brings orchestral music to Montrose classrooms.
The Mission of Weehawken Creative Arts is to provide high-quality arts education, personal growth programs and cultural events while playing a leadership role in the arts within our communities year round. $1,000 went to provide needs based scholarships for Montrose youth.
The mission of the West End Family Link Center, located in Nucla CO is to “empower the people of the west end of Montrose and San Miguel counties by providing no cost supportive services.” A grant for $2,500 will be used for their Basic Needs program for clients including food and emergency assistance.
