APPLY FOR GRANTS

Montrose Community Foundation Impact Grants
will open Fall 2024.

Purpose & Description

Our Impact Grants encourage community based solutions that inspire and empower giving, leadership, and service, and improve the quality of life for all in our community.

We envision…a healthy and vibrant community that is created, sustained, and supported by its members and powered by generosity.

Grants up to $5000 will be awarded for programs or operating expenses.

Timeline:

  • October 2, 2023: Applications will open online.
  • November 2023: grant report for 2022 funding due. Grant reports may be filed anytime during the year, after funds have been applied to programs. To file a grant report click the MCF Grant Report button.
  • December 3, 2023: Deadline for 2023 Impact Grant applications. To apply for an Impact Grant click the 2023 Impact Grant Application button to be directed to our online grant application in Smarter Select.
  • February 2024: Grantees announced and funds distributed.

MCF Impact Grants will:

  • Promote organizations that demonstrate financial responsibility and sustainability.
  • Support a “better together” approach (significant collaboration, less duplication of services).
  • Invest in leadership and operations that demonstrate action.
  • Encourage participation that is reflective of our entire community.

 Funding Criteria

–  Applicants must create an account and submit their completed application through Smarter Select, our online application software.  The only exception is for those using the Spanish application.

–  Organizations should be a registered 501(c)3 or have a current fiscal sponsor.  If not a 501(c)3, please be prepared to describe your charitable or tax exemption status. The MCF can fund an organization that does not have the IRS tax status, but the project MUST be charitable.

–  Organizations with budgets over $3 million must apply for program or project funds, not operational.

–  Programs and services must impact Montrose County residents.

The following criteria are used in the evaluation of grant requests:

  • Organization’s mission is aligned with their programs.
  • Organization strives to receive feedback from and engages their constituents in their planning process.
  • Impact of programs or services is explained.
  • Population that is served is underserved or at-risk/vulnerable. Underserved meaning that there are not currently adequate services available for that population.
  • Organization demonstrates collaboration with other organizations.
  • Financial information is complete.

MCF does not support requests for:

    • Expenses for an individual
    • Travel expenses
    • College scholarships
    • Requests from religious organizations for the sole purpose of furthering that religion
    • Political activities
